The Challenge

BAVCO’s online business grew over many years across several websites and back-office tools. Product data lived in a FileMaker-based system, the storefront ran on a separate BigCommerce subdomain, and hosting, DNS and payments were split across different providers. Much of it ran on an aging custom PHP codebase, and no single document described how the pieces fit together.

Before committing to any upgrade, BAVCO needed a clear picture of what runs where, what depends on what, and what it would take to modernize without disrupting daily orders.

Puget Digital ran a full discovery across all five of BAVCO’s domains and the systems behind them. We mapped the environment end to end, documented it in one consolidated system overview, moved bavco.com to Cloudflare, and prepared a migration recommendation with a scoped estimate. BAVCO’s team got what they needed to make the go/no-go call with real numbers in hand.

  • Discovery across five domains
  • Consolidated system documentation
  • Migration plan and scoped estimate

Technical Catalog Cleanup & Structured UX

BAVCO’s product data required deep restructuring—standardizing attributes such as function, finish, compatibility, model numbers, and manufacturer references. We consolidated duplicates, normalized naming conventions, and engineered variant logic to support products with highly technical specifications.

We then integrated PartsFinder, enabling precise part identification through diagrams and exploded views—a critical tool for BAVCO’s audience.

BigCommerce was extended with:

  • Custom ERP data sync (inventory, pricing, order handling)
  • B2B quoting flow for professional buyers
  • Dual-mode storefront supporting both retail customers and trade accounts

The Solution

The new BigCommerce storefront delivers a fast, reliable, and highly structured buying experience designed specifically for technical users.

Buyers can now identify correct parts with far greater accuracy, submit quotes, and access specialized product data without friction.

PartsFinder integration dramatically improved search success rates, while the cleaned catalog architecture ensures consistent, predictable product presentation.

Operational efficiency also improved: BAVCO’s internal team now works with a stable BigCommerce backend, automated ERP workflows, and a catalog built for scaling. The result is a modern, professional, and high-performance ecommerce system aligned with the needs of industry buyers.
